Connecting Older Adults and Persons with Disabilities with Personal Care Assistance: The Potential of ADRCs as Hosts for Publicly-Funded Matching Service Registries

Several states are experimenting with solutions to help individuals who need long term services and supports connect with available workers. One approach is a publicly-funded matching service registry (MSR) that facilitates connections between qualified home care workers and individuals who self-direct their in-home services and supports. Program Site for Protection and Advocacy Program for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS)

The Work Site - Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA)

There were 104 new grants awarded throughout the U.S. and the U.S. territories in 2006 to a new SSA grantee program called Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Projects or WIPAs. The WIPA projects were funded to assist SSA disability beneficiaries with information about work incentives, benefits planning, and making good choices about work.

Ticket to Work Program Website

This link directs you to the "Ticket To Work" program website. The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program is an employment program for people with disabilities who are interested in going to work. The Ticket Program is part of legislation designed to remove many of the barriers that previously influenced people’s decisions about going to work because of the concerns over losing health care coverage.

The call, which took place on May 6, 2004, provided grantees with a basic understanding of the disability employment landscape. Already underway in most ADRC states are an array of employment supports and employment counseling projects for persons with disabilities. Panelists described various state programs and initiatives and offered ideas for partnering between employment supports, work incentive projects and ADRCs.
